Developed by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's, the technique has become one of the most sought-after ways of maintaining one's fitness. During WWI, PILATES used his knowledge of strengthening the body to rehabilitate injured soldiers. He later operated his own exercise studio in New York, where dancers, athletes and actresses were attracted to his training methods as a way to maintain a strong, supple, streamlined physique.
PILATES transforms the way you look by reversing the effects of aging on your body while trimming and toning. After years, gravity begins to "weigh us down;" causing shrinking, compression, hunching, and atrophy. PILATES is designed to stretch and strengthen muscles, correct spinal alignment, & develop a strong core and lower back. It creates a sleek, toned body with more slender thighs and a flatter abdomen. Don't be a prisoner in your own body, unable to move like you used to. These physical therapy-type exercises use range of motion to rotate hinges and sockets and keep muscles and tendons elasticized and flexible. I am a NESTA Certified PILATES Personal Trainer. In order to provide affordable classes in a comfortable, quiet atmosphere; I have chosen to teach some of my classes independently in the Williamsville/Clarence, NY, area.
All classes are "drop in," so you pay as you go. There is no membership or sign-up fee.
Be sure to bring a mat and a water bottle to each class.
